Step 2: Go to the corresponding point or points on both the left and right hands and feet |

Pain at the Top of the Head |
LI 4 is often recommended for
headaches and it is a powerful point if pressure is applied
correctly. Gently press the muscle just under the bone up against
the bone until you feel an achy sensation. Presto recommends pressing the points on
both hands to treat generalized headaches. LI 4 is
easy to reach and can be used by itself or in combination
with KD 1 to treat pain at the top of the head. |
|||||
KD 1 is located on the bottom of the foot between the ball of the foot and the arch. Approximately centered between both sides of the foot. Press deep into this point. |
||||||
Step 3: Press the points for relief |

Press hard enough to feel an achy sensation. If you do not feel an achy sensation press around the area and try to locate the most sensitive point. | Because the thumb is stronger than the index finger we recommend using the thumb to press on the point. Women with long finger nails may prefer to use the eraser end of a pencil or the rounded end of a marker pen. | |||||
Press on each of these points until you feel a deep achy sensation. Then take 3 or 4 deep, SLOW, breaths while continuing to press. Then go to the point on opposite foot or hand and repeat the same process. Work back and forth, up and down until you have pressed each point. Inhale & exhale! |
|
Wrapping your fingers around the hand or foot allows you to
gradually press harder and harder with the thumb until your feel a
deep achy sensation. Start by pressing LI 4 on your right hand,
then go to KD 1 your left foot, then right foot, left hand, and end
with repeating where you started on your right hand. Don't forget to
breath at least 3 times with each point. You need to press deep and hard to feel an ache at KD 1. This may be easier if press KD 1 with the index finger knuckle of your strongest hand. You can also press using both thumbs with one thumb on top of the other. |

Hey! Is this supposed to work? |
No relief? Try these suggestions: 1. Check to be certain that you started by selecting the image that best matches the location of pain on your body. If you can find an image that is a better match try pressing those points. If your pain moves to a new location after you press the first set of points go back to the previous page, select the image that best matches the new pain location, and try using the new points. 2. Check the general area around the point
location by gently pressing to find the most sensitive spot.
Pressing on the most sensitive spot in the area will usually
give you the best results. 4. Try points in the same area but, on the opposite hand, foot, leg, or arm. 5. Select another pain location image that is located close to the pain location on your body. Try using these related point selections to see if you get better results6. Call your local acupuncturist and make an appointment. An individualized diagnosis may be necessary to resolve your condition. |
